This is an advisory for any users enjoying our Call of Duty 4 Modern Warfare Advantage Tool for Mac OS X, who have not yet updated their machines to the latest version of macOS Sierra.
Note: Customers enjoying our Counter Strike Global Offensive Advantage Tool are not affected. This only applies to the COD4 Advantage Tool.
We’re seeing an increasing incidence of the following behaviours, after users have upgraded to MacOS 10.12.5:
Anti-spread & no-recoil is no longer functional.
Call of Duty 4: MW Multiplayer crashes immediately after the COD4 Advantage Tool detects the game.
This behaviour does not affect all users on macOS 10.12.5. Only 3 users have reported this issue at the time of writing, and we cannot reproduce the issue on our test machines.
While the first symptom may be manageable for some users, no workaround has yet been found for the crashes, meaning the COD4 Advantage Tool may not be usable until a solution is found or the upgrade to macOS 10.12.5 is reversed. With the help of the users affected, we are partway through troubleshooting both symptoms and are getting closer to the root cause.
If you are experiencing either of the two symptoms with your COD4 Advantage Tool, please contact us. If you’re seeing game crashes, you can use the following tutorial to provide crash reports, which may help us further pin down the exact cause of this: https://news.macgamehacks.com/2016/12/providing-crash-reports/
If you have not yet upgraded to macOS 10.12.5 and are using our COD4 Advantage Tool, we recommend that you avoid upgrading to the latest macOS for the moment if possible.
Edit 13 June 2017: 1 of the 3 users has reported the issues are no longer reproducible, without further action.
Edit 15 June 2017: 2 of the 3 users have now reported the issues are no longer happening, without further action being taken. We’re still working with the remaining user to investigate if the crashes persist and what the root cause is.
Edit 17 June 2017: crashes are now resolved. If you’re experiencing either crashes of COD4 or the no-recoil & anti-spread features aren’t working for you, please contact us.
Please contact us if you have any questions or concerns, whether you’re a new or an existing customer. We’re here to help.
We’re pleased to announce the desperately needed renovations of our primary domain, www.MacGameHacks.com, are now complete! Take a look and tell us what you think! Find out about our history, who we are, what we do, and review a snapshot of our current offering. The new pricing layout also allows you to provide a custom email during the checkout process, for those wishing to gift a membership purchase to their friends or family.
Our game-specific subsites csgomachacks.com & callofduty4machacks.com are still due for a makeover and will also be refreshed at a later date, as time allows it. The on-site information is still up-to-date, par some new features, although the layout on those two isn’t mobile-friendly yet.
Do let us know if you’re interested in helping out – even if you’re (not yet) familiar with programming, there are plenty of ways you can help out that make a huge difference for us.
